Privacy Policy

Mioluo LLC (“Mioluo,” “we,” or “us”) operates Mioluo and mioluo.com. This policy explains the information we process, its uses, recipients, retention, and your choices. Contact info@mioluo.com.

Current app and removed features

Mioluo offers translation, saved phrases and Memories, spaced review, speech practice, learning progress, an earned Galaxy, and a cosmetic shop. Live Interpreter has been removed. Current native builds do not offer live conversation interpretation, Private or Learn interpreter sessions, background conversation capture, or an interpreter Live Activity. We no longer stream conversation audio to Google Gemini. Historical conversations and learning records are not automatically erased when a feature is removed; they remain covered by the retention and deletion provisions below.

Information we process

• Account and profile: account identifier, email and sign-in information, username, display name, optional profile photo, country, grammatical-gender preference, languages, settings, and onboarding state. Sign-in options can include Apple, Google, Facebook, and email/password.
• Learning content and activity: submitted text, translations, saved phrases, context and pronunciation information, generated illustrations and audio, practice answers and transcripts, results, review schedules, streaks, earned currency, cosmetic ownership, and historical learning records.
• Camera/photo input: images you capture or choose for text recognition, detected text, and the parts you select for translation. Avoid submitting sensitive material or another person's private information.
• Speech practice: microphone input you start and recognized text used to evaluate your answer. Recognition uses the operating system's speech service and may send audio to Apple or the device's speech-service provider. It is not guaranteed to be entirely on-device. Routine practice does not create a separate Mioluo store of microphone recordings.
• Social information: public profile details, username lookup, requests, friendships, and blocking state. Historical sharing records may remain where new sharing is unavailable. Your private phrase library is not made public simply because you have a profile.
• Diagnostics and security: app/OS versions, device and installation identifiers, crash stacks, session and operation references, screen and language settings, errors, timing, and usage counters. Support reports include your description and any diagnostic bundle you choose to send. Network services and hosting may process IP addresses and access/security logs.

Cloud translation and AI processing

Cloud features send relevant input through Mioluo's Firebase backend to the providers below. Translation uses phrase text and language/style settings. Memory enrichment and learning material can use phrase pairs and context. Illustration generation uses a scene description derived from that content. Authentication and usage limits are handled separately by Mioluo/Firebase. Do not submit information you do not want these services to process.

The selected-text extension asks for cloud-sharing permission before sending text. Merely opening it does not grant that permission. Beta-build controls can differ; this policy does not itself grant consent or replace a required in-app permission. You can avoid submitting input, stop speech capture, revoke device permissions, or request deletion. Changing a preference does not recall information already processed by a provider.

Translation selected in another app

When you choose Mioluo for Apple's selected-text Translate action, the extension displays the selection and asks permission before sending text and translation settings through Firebase to DeepSeek. The result appears in Apple's sheet. Replace works only when the source app permits it and you choose it. Translation alone does not save a Memory. Generate Memory saves the phrase pair and learning metadata and can initiate enrichment and illustration generation as described here.

Providers and recipients

• Google Firebase / Google Cloud: authentication, databases, file storage, backend functions, notifications, security, and Crashlytics diagnostics. Cloud Vision processes submitted images for text recognition. Cloud Text-to-Speech processes phrase text and voice/language settings for playback. See Firebase privacy, Google Cloud privacy, and data-processing terms.
• DeepSeek: submitted text, phrase pairs, language and grammatical/style context, and related prompts for translation, enrichment, and learning material. Requests use our backend, not a provider key embedded in the app. See DeepSeek's privacy policy.
• Ideogram: scene descriptions derived from phrases and context to generate learning illustrations, which we store where applicable. See Ideogram privacy and API terms.
• Apple, Google, or Facebook: the sign-in provider you choose and, where used, device speech-recognition and notification services.
• Website and email hosts: delivery of this website, support correspondence, and necessary security logs.

We use providers for the functions above and do not sell your personal information. Their applicable terms and privacy policies also govern processing. We do not promise zero retention, zero caching, or exclusion from provider model training without an applicable agreement and verified configuration. Naming a provider does not establish a special enterprise or zero-retention agreement.

Location in older builds

The location switch has been removed from Settings. Older builds may still honor a previously enabled preference, attach city/coordinates to a Memory, or use IP-location and reverse-geocoding services such as ipapi.co, ip-api.com, and OpenStreetMap Nominatim. Those services receive the IP address or coordinates needed for the lookup. We are removing those legacy collection paths rather than treating the absent switch as new permission. Historical location fields are not automatically erased; contact us to request their deletion.

Diagnostics, advertising, and purchases

Release builds use Firebase Crashlytics for reliability diagnostics. Firebase Analytics is disabled in the current iOS configuration. Mioluo has no advertising placements and does not sell personal information. The Facebook sign-in SDK can process device and usage information; older beta builds did not explicitly disable its automatic collection defaults. The next native build disables automatic app-event, advertising-ID, and product-improvement collection. The cosmetic shop uses earned in-app currency; the current app does not offer real-money purchases or subscriptions.

Storage, security, and retention

We retain account and saved learning records while needed to operate your account and provide the service. Device caches can hold content, audio, preferences, and queued changes for offline use. Widgets may display learning content on a Home or Lock Screen visible to others. Remove a widget or use available widget privacy controls if that is not appropriate for a phrase.

We use encrypted transport, authenticated access, and access rules intended to restrict private records to their owner and authorized operations. No system guarantees absolute security. Logs, support reports, backups, historical records, and third-party systems can have different retention periods; there is no universal automatic deletion deadline covering every system. After a verified deletion request, we limit retention to applicable legal obligations, security, fraud prevention, and disputes, and explain material exceptions. Uninstalling the app does not delete your account.

Your choices and rights

You can edit available profile/language settings, delete individual Memories, stop recordings, and manage camera, microphone, speech, photo, and notification permissions in device settings. Request access, correction, a copy, deletion, or withdrawal of consent at info@mioluo.com. Depending on your country, rights may include portability, objection, restriction, and complaints to a data-protection authority. We may need proportionate identity verification. Withdrawing consent does not invalidate prior lawful processing.

Children and international processing

Mioluo is intended for people aged 13 and older, not children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13; contact us if you believe a child has provided information. Local law may require a higher minimum age or parental consent.

Mioluo LLC is a United States company. Providers may process information in other countries with different privacy protections. DeepSeek's published policy describes storage and processing in China. We do not claim all data stays in the EU or United States. Naming a provider is not itself a legal international transfer safeguard; contact us about safeguards applicable to your data.

Website, changes, and contact

This website stores a local theme preference and navigation session information. Hosting access logs can include your IP address, requested page, time, and browser. Emailing support sends the information you include to our mailbox. Do not send passwords or unnecessary sensitive content.

We revise the date above when this policy changes and provide additional notice where required. Material new uses or sharing that require consent will require that consent; continued use is not a substitute. Questions: info@mioluo.com.
