Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 14, 2026 · Mioluo LLC · info@mioluo.com
This Privacy Policy describes how Mioluo LLC (“Mioluo,” “we,” “us”) handles information when you use the Mioluo language-learning application and related services.
Live Interpreter
Interpreter captures nearby speech only after you start a session in the foreground, allow microphone access, and confirm your headphone output. Audio is sent over encrypted connections to Google Gemini for live translation. Mioluo does not save raw microphone audio or translated audio clips. Temporary audio is held in bounded memory while consumed and is released when the session stops or fails. We do not promise forensic erasure of system-managed memory.
Private mode is the default when Learn mode is off. Mioluo does not save the conversation text, create Conversation Packs, or generate exercises from Private sessions. Conversation content cannot be saved afterward. On supported configurations, capture and translated playback can continue while you use another app or lock the phone. You can stop from Interpreter or its supported Lock Screen controls. A detected unsafe headphone route ends the session; removing an earbud is not always detectable by iOS.
Enabling Learn mode before Start permits Mioluo to save bilingual text, language settings, turn order, timestamps, corrections, and related learning metadata in a text-only Conversation Pack linked to your account. Missing text counterparts may be sent to DeepSeek for translation. You can review, correct, and delete packs and explicitly select phrases for exercises. Learn mode ends when you leave Interpreter or lock the phone. Choosing Private later does not delete previously saved conversations or exercises.
Private sessions still require content-free account, authorization, language-pair, timing, duration, quota, and security metadata to operate. New session and quota records become eligible for automatic deletion after seven days, and active-session records at the session deadline; deletion is asynchronous. Existing account data and saved learning content follow the retention and deletion choices described below. Private conversation content is excluded from Mioluo storage, analytics, crash diagnostics, and protocol logs.
Mioluo does not claim that Google retains or caches no audio. Google Gemini and DeepSeek process data under their applicable service terms, which may include provider storage, caching, and abuse-monitoring retention. Stop ends further capture and streaming; microphone access can also be revoked in iOS Settings. Previously saved Learn-mode text can be deleted through Conversation Packs or an account data-deletion request. Starting a session does not determine whether you have any consent required from other people under local law.
Information we collect
Account information. If you create an account, we collect information needed to authenticate you and operate your profile. Depending on how you sign in, this may include your email address and information from your sign-in provider (such as Apple, Google, or Facebook). We may also store a username, country, gender (if you provide it), language-pair preferences, onboarding progress, and app settings linked to your account.
Learning content. Mioluo is built around phrases and memories. We store the phrases, translations, contexts, pronunciation notes, exercise results, review schedules, goal-related content, and progress data associated with your account.
Translation from other apps. When you use Mioluo with Apple's selected-text Translate action, the extension shows the selected text and requests permission before sending that text and your chosen translation settings through Mioluo's Firebase backend to DeepSeek for AI translation. The result is displayed in Apple's sheet. Text replacement happens only when the source app permits it and you choose Replace. This flow does not save a Memory.
Optional location. If you enable location in the app, we may attach location-related information (such as city or coordinates) to memories you create. You can turn this off in app settings.
Social features. If you use friend or sharing features, we may store a public profile, friend connections, friend requests, and shared phrase content linked to your account.
Device and local data. Some preferences (such as theme and certain toggles) may be stored on your device. Speech practice uses on-device speech recognition to compare your spoken answer to the target phrase; we do not operate a separate server-side recording store for routine practice audio based on the current app design.
How we use information
We use the information above to:
- Provide translation-assisted phrase creation and memory enrichment
- Save, organize, and review your language memories
- Run exercises, track learning progress, and schedule review
- Generate audio playback for phrases you study
- Operate optional social and sharing features you choose to use
- Respond to support requests and process account or data-deletion requests
- Maintain security, prevent abuse, and enforce usage limits on backend services
Third-party services
Mioluo relies on service providers to operate. Depending on your use of the app, data may be processed by:
- Firebase (Google) — authentication, cloud database, and server functions that connect app features to our backend
- DeepSeek — translation and memory-enrichment requests sent through our servers (source text, language context, and related prompt content). Some translator activity may be logged in our database for debugging and service improvement.
- Google Cloud Text-to-Speech — phrase text and language/voice settings sent through our servers to generate audio playback
- Sign-in providers you choose — Apple, Google, or Facebook when you use those sign-in options
- Location lookup services — if you enable location, third-party geolocation services may be used to label memories (for example OpenStreetMap Nominatim or IP-based geolocation helpers)
These providers process data on our behalf to deliver app functionality. We do not sell your personal information.
Crash diagnostics, analytics, advertising, and payments
Crash diagnostics. Mioluo uses Firebase Crashlytics to collect crash reports and diagnostic information to investigate failures and improve reliability. Firebase Analytics remains disabled in the current iOS configuration.
The current Mioluo app does not use advertising SDKs or remote-config analytics products. The app does not offer in-app purchases or subscriptions at this time.
Data retention
We retain account and learning data while your account is active and as needed to provide the service. When you delete your account or request deletion, we delete or anonymize associated personal data except where we must retain information for legal, security, or dispute-resolution purposes.
Your choices
You may review and update certain profile and app settings inside Mioluo. You may request access to or deletion of your account and associated data as described on our Account & data deletion page, or by emailing info@mioluo.com.
In-app account deletion is not yet available in the current app build. Before App Store release, we plan to add an in-app deletion option for apps that support account creation.
Children
Mioluo is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us at info@mioluo.com.
International users
Mioluo may process and store information in countries where we or our service providers operate. If you use the app from outside the United States, your information may be transferred to and processed in those locations.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will revise the “Last updated” date when we do. Continued use of the app after changes become effective means you accept the updated policy.
